▼ To Remove and Replace the 4300 Switch

Refer to the McDATA Sphereon 4300 Switch Installation and Service Manual,

620-000171. This manual is on the product CD.

Caution – You must check and update the firmware version before

you connect the 4300 switch to the network.

▼ To Check the New 4300 Switch Firmware Version

1. Establish a Telnet session to the 4300 switch.

a. Connect an Ethernet cable between the new 4300 switch and your

workstation.

b. Open a command-line window.

c. Establish a Telnet session to the default IP address for a new 4300

switch.

Refer to the McDATA Sphereon 4300 Switch Installation and Service Manual,

620-000171. This manual is on the product CD.

d. Log in to the 4300 switch.

2. Use the show system command to read the firmware version.

See step 2 under “To Confirm the Compatibility Between the Existing 4300

Switch Firmware and the 4300 Switch FRU Firmware” on page 2.

If the new 4300 switch firmware does not match that of the original,

download the appropriate firmware by referring to the McDATA Sphereon

4300 Switch Installation and Service Manual, 620-000171.
